In addition to the CSHA and the provision of rent assistance for private tenants, the Commonwealth also offers a number of other housing subsidies. Among the most important forms of this other support are: the CSHA is a joint agreement between the Commonwealth and the State, intended to help both tenants and buyers to find adequate housing. It deals primarily with the provision of social housing, but it also provides funds to other types of property. The main funding priorities identified by the CSHA are public housing, collective housing, crisis housing, Aboriginal rental housing, private rental assistance and residential property support. On average, the Commonwealth provides about two-thirds of the total funding to the CSHA, with the rest provided by the states and territories.
